The curriculum

Module 03

03 · Social proof, negativity bias and anchoring

The three cognitive forces that dominate review interpretation — and how each is mis-applied.

  • When social proof backfires (hint: perfect scores)
  • Why one visible bad review can raise conversion
  • How the first review anchors the perception of the rest
Module 04

04 · Decision friction & the buy button

The path from consideration to purchase — measured in seconds and thumb-scrolls.

  • The role of reviews in high-consideration vs impulse buys
  • How verification badges reduce cognitive load

Common questions

Is the research peer-reviewed?

Where possible we cite peer-reviewed behavioural science. Our own dataset findings are published with methodology notes so other researchers can replicate them.

Is this hub relevant if I only care about ranking?

Yes — the way buyers read reviews changes what you should collect and display. Ranking is downstream of behaviour, not the other way around.

Do you offer the underlying data?

Aggregated benchmarks are published openly. Access to raw, tenant-scoped data is available to enterprise customers under DPA.
